George Edward (Ted) Johann

George Edward (Ted) Johann

01/06/1926 - 03/12/2023

George Edward (Ted) Johann passed away peacefully on December 03, 2023 at the age of 97.

My father (Ted) was a gentle, honest soul, and a generous person, well respected by those who knew him in the community.
He accomplished a lot during his long life because he liked to work; he was rarely idle.  When not working he and Kathleen would go to dances, card games, visit with friends and family. He loved playing games such as Poche, Piche, softball when he was younger. Hunting and fishing and building things were his passions, as well as sugaring and sawing at the sawmill. He always stipulated that the deer, fish  or partridge he killed were eaten, nothing was wasted!!
Many people came to him for the Balsam Christmas trees that he grew.
He played the guitar and sang when younger, and the fiddle when older. I could add many more accomplishments, but those who knew him know what they are.
He is and will be missed by many people whose lives he touched. He has been a good person his whole life.

Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Boyce) Johann.  Also predeceased by his parents George and Annie (Brooke) Johann and by his four brothers Gerald, Wyatt, Leonard, and James.

Ted is survived by his loving children George and Nancy Johann. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Pamela (Michael Mulhurn), Angela (Shawn Davidson) and Andrea (Brian McDonald).  He was a wonderful "Big Papoo" (great-grandfather) to Keegan, Mckenna, Ethan, Quinn, Evan, Kate, Kiaryn and Kaeden. Ted will also be missed by many friends and relatives. Especially his caring nephew Robert Johann, his wife Diane, and their children Kayla and Casey (Zoé Dubé), and by his special friend Wilma Cushing.

The family extends its gratitude and appreciation to all the compassionate staff from St. Catherine 1 at the Coaticook Hospital for their immeasurable empathy and diligence. We also want to thank Dr Jacynthe Roy for her care and compassion provided in his final days.

A private graveside burial will take place at a later date for family and friends.

We have known Mr. Johann for many years. A kind, gentle man, with a twinkle in his eyes when he smiled and that was very often. My dad had his garden up at the farm on the green road. He loved going up there every day and the 2 of them would chit chat. He was one of a kind!!♥️
